Purpose:

The purpose of this application is to create a grocery Shopping List and make the shopping experience more efficient.

When you Go Shopping! the items list is sorted by isle; thereby making better use of time. The Shopping List is created from items in the Item List and this list is searchable and fully editable.

How to Use:

To create your Shopping List, choose Make Shopping List in the Main Menu. Click on an item in the Items List to add it automatically to the Shopping List. Remove items by selecting the item in the Shopping List and clicking the remove button. Duplicate items may not be added to the Shopping List.

Once your Shopping List is created, click on Go Shopping!. After physically picking up an item, click on the item to change its state to one of the following:

Picked: item has been picked up
Not in stock; unavailable for purchase
Cancelled: you choose not to buy this item

Use Item List Upkeep to make changes to the Item List.

To add a new item enter its name and isle number into the blank spaces and click Apply Changes.
To delete an item, remove its name and click apply changes.
Use the search field to quickly locate items.
Click on File Upload to upload data in CSV file format.

Design features:

The Item List and Shopping List are maintained in a database external to the web browser.
Used Database "INNER JOIN" to connect Shopping List to Items List.
The 2 tables are automatically created if they don't exist.
The search field allows searching by any part of an item name.
The screen layout will change to accommodate a mobile display or desktop monitor.
Used JSON data structures to transfer data from browser to server.
Data can be easily imported from a file.
Input Validation:
File must be 100Kb or less, have extension txt or csv, have the correct format.
File format:

Apple fruit, 4
Coke-pop, 3
orange (fruit),4
name ^!* $3,2, invalid
